Description * For sale is a meticulously maintained 2001 Yamaha R1. The bike has only 10,874 miles, and it shows. There are only a few VERY minor flaws and I have pictures of each. The bike runs and rides like a mint condition bike should, not a single problem. Very smooth at 120 mph and well north of that. Besides the occasional high speed blasts, this bike has been ridden very conservatively and I imagine has had an easier life than 95% of R1's. Every piece of plastic on this bike is OEM Yamaha from Japan, no cheap Chinese fairings here. The bike is also completely stock, never tampered with, and is a clean slate for anyone wishing to upgrade and make it their own. Many street bike/Yamaha enthusiasts consider the 2000-2001 R1's to be one of the best sport-bikes ever produced due to numerous improvements on the debut bike (1998-1999). Bike is fully registered and inspected with a clean title in my possession. My only reason for letting her go is the need to put the money towards school. Service * The Metzler Sportec M5 tires have about 50% tread left (installed at 8500 miles). Oil and filter changed at 10,670 miles with Yamalube 10W-40 and an OEM Yamaha filter. Also during the last oil change: brakes were checked and show very little wear, brake and clutch lever play was adjusted, chain was lubed and adjusted, air filter was checked and found very clean, and all fluids were checked. The bike got a thorough wash and wax after the oil change as well. At about 5000 miles I replaced the stock spark plugs with NGK Iridiums (only thing that isn't stock). Most all service records I've kept in my shop manual. Currently the bike is covered and winterized since I was delayed in listing the bike for sale locally and have not had any offers with the riding season here (upstate NY) ending. I ran fuel stabilizer and carb cleaner through the system before draining the carbs. ***** I have a BRAND NEW YUASA AGM battery (as of 9/26/12) that is on a battery tender and will be installed upon purchase. *** Since I've owned the bike it has had one key. I recently bought a matching key blank which only needs to be cut. Cost only a few bucks at any hardware store. Purchase * As well as the second rider seat cushion I have the OEM Yamaha blue rear targa cover/cowling that swaps with it and a leather Yamaha GYTR tank cover. I also have 2 service manuals (one factory Yamaha, one Clymer), a heavy duty cover will full elastic bottom and hard mirror covers, and a quick disconnect hard-wired to the battery for a Battery Tender. Everything mentioned above will come with the bike if it is bought for the asking price. I have over 2 dozen high quality pictures and would be happy to email them if the resolution of the pictures provided for the listing is unsatisfactory. There are several good pictures on my phone that can be texted to you, too. I will provide the VIN # upon request if you wish to check the history. * Due to frequent scams, I will only accept cash or a Paypal transfer to my account.
