This is an antique safe, made by Gary Safe Company of Buffalo, NY. My great-great grandfather and great-grandfather both possessed a gas station and establishment in Ontonagon, from the millenium to the 1950's. This safe was out of the establishment. Sadly, the combination was lost for many years, and my dad's interest got the best of him, so he opened the safe in the 1980's, then attempted to restore it. So, he drilled out the mix lock on the front, which is initial but not works. When that didn't open the safe, he went through the back - through the steel and cement. (There was absolutely nothing in the safe, so it was generally messed up for nothing.:(. When he restored it, he bonded a new piece of steel on the back, but not did anything to the cement. He repainted the outside. The wheels work. The white you see in the photos is dirt, I think. The initial drawers that were in it are gone (broken in my Dad's burglary.). This safe is really, extremely heavy. From my study, it appears it might be recovered to a working safe with a minimum of effort. At any rate, it makes a terrific showpiece.
