This shipwright's pin-type adze was made in 1832 by D. R. Barton of Rochester NY and functions rounded sides to get rid of gouging. I used this tool to form oak beams for the restoration of Abel Brown's 1812 residence on Grand Isle in Vermont. Throughout my possession, this adze was never sharpened-- the difficult steel blade is unbelievably tough and holds a finish like no other woodworking device I have actually ever used. Has some very minor, light surface rust that taxi easily be cleaned off. I have not done anything to preserve or recover this tool. Consists of a compound-curved deal with. A lovely tool that can be used or shown. Asking $180.
