This is a really special, if not rare, gallery quality antique that came from the area of Persia, when Persia was a country. The 8" handle is made from Sterling Silver and the thick blonde Yak tail hair is 15" long. Complete length 23". Because it was as soon as possessed by a direct descendent of the Ginghis Khan household, it has some historic value. Crafted by a competent Silversmith, it does not have any obvious markings, but it is guaranteed Silver.Some next-door neighbors of mine (years ago) had possessed about 40 years prior to I got it from them and I've had it virtually 30 years. He was an International Postal Inspector, and traveled all over the world so he gets credit for mailing it home to his wife some 70 years back! She said he was always sending out something different and special house from different countries as he traveled. His task was to fulfill with other International Postal Inspectors all over the world and he went to nations that don't even exist today. Persia being among them! Their residence was filled with all kinds of incredible and stunning pieces of gallery quality art and artifacts from all over the world so he gets credit for mailing it to America. It's clean. It's attractive. It's been well maintained and shielded. It still functions normally and has no indicators of hair loss. Looking carefully at the Silver, I can not see any clear or unique markings. It is ensured to be Sterling Silver. (It's been tested.) Overall weight (with hair) 7 Ounces. Given that I can not remember exactly its history and even verify its prior ownership, I am asking a modest $250 for it. I believe it would auction for far more at a big International Auction House like Christies or Sotheby's however I do not have the time or desire to offer it that approach. This special piece can be made use of with an outfit, as a prop, for your fetish, as part of a collection, showed, sealed and preserved, talented to a gallery, auctioned off or donated for charity, given as a present, used to tease your mate in the boudoir ... what the heck ... long hair tickles the skin!
