Made in Fullerton Ca., the Serial #684xxx places manufacturing date c. 1968. This R 20 features a beautiful 8-inch rose brass bell and F attachment, The key is Bb/ F, perfect for classical, jazz, or student musician. Bell is 8 inch (Re-0-loy olds proprietary)Bore is dual .495/.515 with Fluted innertubes. This makes it a" large" small bore. Outer hand slide is nickel silver.Requires small shank mouthpiece The large bell gives the rich projection of a bass with the quick response of a light weight small bore tenor slide. With the F attachment, it covers the full range of tenor and bass horns. Condition is commensurate with its age. There is minor lacquer wear. It is free of dings and dents. The great news is that the slide is a 10 of 10 for playability. It really is perfect.All three tuning slides function freelyValve works well with excellent pressure. Water key works well as does the slide lock. The less than great news: There is some plating loss on one stocking, and there is a narrow ( about 1.0 mm wide x 2 in long - this is really hard to spot. Look sharp) plating loss scar on one inner slide tube. The outer slide is also missing the bumper on the crook. The coffin case is worn but fully functional. It has stenciled lettering from a past life. All latches and handles function as designed. 3 C vintage olds mouthpiece (I prefer the olds #1) comes with it but not the stand See photos. I have tried to show warts and all. As of this posting, I am playing this horn at its last gig before saying goodbye to it. The hand slide will be wiped dry for shipping. Just add your favorite lube. I use rapid comfort. I use Mothers car polish on bell. I will ship usps priority mail. Calculated between $80 and $180. It's cheaper than the others.
