The OHS Advisor reports to the OHS Manager and the primary role is to develop and maintain effective safety, health and training programs, providing prescribed MSHA Training, ensuring a high standard of recordkeeping and monitoring workplace safety through regular inspections within the OHS Department Duties include: Develop and maintains safety and health standards in compliance with company, OSHA, MSHA regulations, and appropriate risk procedures to protect the assets of the company. Develops, implements, delivers, assesses and integrates safety and health training and development processes. Conducts regular safety and equipment inspections of work sites and informs supervisors of unsafe practices, conditions and possible safety and health hazards. Follows up on recommendations and informs employees of work method changes Coordinates safety and health issues and reports Prepares and submits reports to management regarding industrial health performance and highlights problem areas Responds to site emergencies as part of the Emergency Management Team Plans, organizes, directs and administers hazardous materials response, rescue and other emergency services Assists government inspectors in their inspections. What are we looking for? You'll be a highly driven individual who will display behavior consistent to our Northern Star Values of Safety, Teamwork, Accountability, Respect and Results, looking to work with the business for the long term and be an integral part in its future growth and development. The specifics: Two years' college coursework in health and safety or an equivalent combination of training and experience, required. MSHA Instructor certification Experience in Mine Rescue and Emergency Response Five years of progressive relevant work experience Effective written, verbal, and communication skills to satisfy training, safety and electronic message transmission policies of the company Demonstrated computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite Current Driver's License Critical thinking skills and problem solving skills. Strong planning and organizational skills. Demonstrated ability to handle highly sensitive and confidential matters effectively and discreetly Flexibility to adapt to improved procedures and practices. Be able to pass a background check and post offer physical. The Details: The OHS Advisor works on a rotational schedule of three weeks on shift, followed by two weeks off shift, up to 12 hours a day at a remote campsite. Extreme conditions, including but not limited to extreme and changing weather conditions, dust, mud, varying levels of noise, varying degrees of light and dark, in and around artificial light and in a confined work area. Employees are required to stay on site at the company provided camp during the work rotation. Camp facilities provide dining service, games room, exercise & weight room, sauna, and accommodation rooms. Dormitory rooms have a land line phone, great Wi-Fi & cable TV. Cell service is available through Wi-Fi. The Company provides a bus service to and from Fairbanks, Delta Junction and Tok, Alaska. Why join us?
