*please read entire post* Our boy Dominick is special in more ways than one. He is goofy, handsome, loving, and a touch bit sassy. All wrapped up into one rabbit! He came to us back in December as a stray so his background is unknown. He was found by a Good Samaritan in the snow and they kindly rescued him and brought him to us. And we are so glad they did! Our best guess at age is that Dominick is around 1 to 2 years old, although it can be very hard to guess an adult bunny’s age. He is a volunteer favorite and seriously loved by everyone! He loves to follow us around the room like a true “puppy bunny”. He may even be a potential bond candidate if you have a spayed female. Have you noticed how handsome Dominick is? He is an English Spot mix with a genetic makeup that causes him to have “broken” markings, meaning that he does not have all the spots/markings that English Spots have. This is often referred to as “Charlie coloration/rabbits” - primarily white with minimal coloring/spots around the eyes, the ears/nose, and the back. This type of broken fur pattern often is linked to a medical condition called Megacolon. Megacolon can cause strangely formed poop, flare ups of GI Stasis, sensitivities to certain veggies, etc. Dominick DOES show a sign of Megacolon; he has the distinct Megacolon shaped 💩. However, he has never shown any other symptoms and has NOT had any stasis episodes while in our care. With that being said, having Megacolon does predispose him to having tummy issues in the future (although it does not mean he definitely will!) and he needs an adopter willing to stand by his side and have him connected with a very rabbit savvy vet if he ever does have more symptoms. Dominick has absolutely flourished in our care and loves any veggies, pellets, hay and enjoys binkying around the room!
