Apollo is a beautiful 1-1/2 year old female Terrier mix who was brought to the HSOV on December 26, 2023 by Good Samaritans who found her on State Route 7/State Route 144 in the Little Hocking/Coolville Ohio area on December 24, 2023. Those kind folks tried in vain to locate her owners (and stopped by our shelter to have Apollo scanned for a microchip in hopes they could find her family. Unfortunately, Apollo was not wearing a collar, and she was not microchipped. Apollo has a black-and-white coat, black spotting on her legs, a long tail, and an adorable symmetrically-marked face with expressive brown eyes, a white stripe on her forehead and white ring around her muzzle, a black button nose, and extra-large erect ears. The Good Samaritans who kept Apollo safe for two days reported that she appears to be housetrained and that she seemed to be good with children as well as other animals. This young lady has a vivacious outgoing personality and is full of playful puppy-like energy. These photos were taken in the shelter lobby late in the afternoon on December 27th since the weather that day was dark, dreary, and rainy. Thanks to HSOV Executive Director Amy Rogers for assisting Apollo with indoor pictures. Apollo would really have preferred to take Amy through the front door and explore the great outdoors .. the small lobby area was not a very exciting venue for Apollo's curiosity and energy when she was looking forward to a w-a-l-k. So we promised that we would take more flattering glamour outdoor photos when the sunshine made an appearance in the mid-Ohio Valley again. Apollo weighs 55 lbs and is fairly strong on a leash. In compliance with the Ohio Revised Code, Apollo will be held for three days so that her family will have an opportunity to reclaim her with proof of ownership. UPDATE: Apollo went home with a foster family on March 14, 2024 who plans to adopt her after she is spayed.If you have any questions or would like to adopt Apollo, please reach out to the adoption group directly.
